Privacy Policy

Intermission (“the app”) is developed by Alex Greene / Kaleidoscope (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information is collected when you use this website and the Intermission app for macOS, and how it’s handled.

The app

Intermission does not require an account and does not collect personal information. Most settings, streaks, and schedule data the app keeps are stored locally on your device.

The app sends a limited set of anonymous usage events (for example, that a break started or was skipped, or that the trial or purchase flow was used) to Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool we self-host. Each installation is identified only by a randomly generated identifier stored on your device — it is never linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal information, and it is never used to track you across other apps or websites. We use this data solely to understand how Intermission is used and to improve it.

Any system permissions the app requests (for example, to detect calls or screen sharing so it can pause breaks) are used solely on-device to decide when to show a break, and the underlying camera/microphone/screen state is never logged, stored remotely, or shared.

This website

This site uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). Umami does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information — it cannot and does not track you individually or across other websites.

We don’t run advertising, retargeting, or third-party tracking scripts on this site.

App Store purchases

Intermission is sold through the Mac App Store. Purchases, payment details, and receipts are handled entirely by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We never see or receive your payment information.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, because we don’t collect personal data to begin with.

Children’s privacy

This app and website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app or website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
